Portugal, which is famous as one of the earliest countries in Europe nations that explored the new world through sailing and building up her own Portuguese Empire, is having many historical monuments and prehistoric cultures inside the country.
I traveled to Portugal two times, and have been visited many interesting places in Portugal.
Honestly, beside of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, there are many tourist attractions situated in Portugal waiting for us to discover. Let’s take an example. Faro, a magnificent city and capital of the Algarve region in Southern Portugal, is a gorgeous city with many fascinating attractions.
Once you’ve arrived at the Faro Airport, you’ll instantly feel the difference between Faro and Lisbon! The most obvious difference is the people in Faro City are much friendlier than Lisbon, where it making me feels welcome as a guest in Faro City! By the way, if you don’t want to waste your time waiting for the cab, then it’s better to make a call and request for the cheap car hire at Faro Airport.
Although Faro City isn’t a very huge city, but it’s fulfilled with many ancient Arab and Roman ruins. For those who didn’t notice, the Moors were the ones who ruled Faro City, from the 8th to 13th century. Portuguese King, Alfonso III defeated The Moors in 1249 and ended their ruling in Faro City!
When I visited Faro City, I attracted by the city’s historical buildings, such as the Faro’s Civil Government buildings, the Square in Central Faro, Statue of King Afonso III and much more.
In other hands, if you’re kind of person who into the nature, then the Ria Formosa Lagoon is the must visit place! For your information, it’s a nature reserve of over 170 square kilometers. It’s best known as the best stopping place for hundreds of different species of birds. The scenery becomes even more remarkable, especially during the spring and autumn migratory seasons!
For me, the most spectacular event in Faro is going to be the Faro annual International Motorcycle Rally. With all the professional motorbike show, biker fair and incredible concerts, it makes the festival as one of the biggest and renowned Motorcycle Rally in Europe!
Frankly, if you’re looking for a one day trip in Faro City, then I recommended you to drop a phone call and asking for car rental first. It’s the best option, as it helps you to save a lot of money, which is can be used for other purposes during the trip.
