You Should Avoid the World’s Top Tourists Traps – Part 1
September 7th 2010 02:26
Let’s telling the truth. One of my biggest reasons, why I’m traveling to other countries is to experience the exotic yet unique local attractions by myself. Honestly, I hated to go those places, which are filling with many tourists’ traps!
First of all, do you know what is the meaning of “Tourist Traps”? It’s an establishment, which has been well-designed to attract tourists, whether the local or the foreign tourists. The main purpose of the tourist trap is to encourage the tourists to spend more money out from their wallets.
In this case, the providers/constructors usually provide many services,
entertainment, souvenirs and other products in the tourist trap. Usually, the price for the goods inside the tourist trap area is mostly 100 – 200 percent expensive than the ordinary goods in the local areas!
I’d experienced the feeling of being cheated by the unethical sellers in several countries. In this case, I’m going to reveal the top three tourists traps in around the world, so that you can be aware of it.
The Eiffel Tower, Paris
Did you know that The Eiffel Tower, Paris was ranked as one of the most disappointing landmarks in the world? The fare is unbelievably expensive, while the stay is very short, which is averagely less than 30 minutes! Honestly, it’s better to stay low on the ground and watching the beautiful Paris scene, by drinking a cup of double espresso or latte! It saves you much more money.
Blarney Castle and Stone, Ireland
In the previous post, I’ve recommended the Ireland’s tourist attraction, Blarney Stone. According to the local belief, people who had kissed the Blarney Stone are going to be blessed by it. In this case, many tourists have trying their luck to kiss on the stone! As a result, the fees to the entrance for kissing the stones are skyrocketing day by day. Well, you can stay away from the Blarney Stone, as there are still many interesting places around the Blarney Castle, such as the museum and lighthouse, which is requiring a lower entrance fee or free to the public!
Pyramid and Sphinx at Egypt
Pyramid and Sphinx in the Egypt is definitely one of the most spectacular wonders of the world. However, it has turned into a tourist trap, where you can see many souvenirs stores lying nearby the Pyramid and Sphinx. Frankly, it has totally ruined the feeling of the great ancient monuments.
